The Hunger Games

I saw the Hunger Games twice. Each experience was different. The first time I saw the Hunger Games it was in a tiny theatre in the middle of nowhere. For those of you who haven’t read the Hunger Games here is a brief plot summary. There is a girl Katniss Everdeen and she’s sixteen. She lives in District 12, which is in the control of the Capital. Before the Districts were formed there was a rebellion in which the Capital was victorious. The Capital, to remind the Districts of the power they have, force the Districts to send 2 children between the ages of 12-18 to compete in a fight to the death. The last person standing wins. When Katniss’s younger sister, Primrose, is selected to participate in the 74th annual Hunger Games, Katniss bravely volunteers. The other tribute from District 12, happens to be Peeta Mellark. When Katniss was younger, her family was starving and she went by the bakery, and Peeta took punishment so he could give Katniss the bread. The incident stayed both with Katniss and Peeta. For the first part of the time they are required to spend together they seem awkward. Once there are thrown into the area, Katniss chooses to remain on her own and Peeta forms an alliance with the strongest and what seem like the deadliest district tributes.

SPOILER ALERTAfter a period of time and many friendships. Peeta and Katniss form an alliance. Peeta is injured and Katniss takes care of him, but unfortunetly when they win Peeta has to have his leg amputated. Katniss and Peeta are the last ones in the arena, and the Capital wants them to kill each other but they can’t. So they take posionous berries and act like they are going to eat them. Later the head Gamemaker is killed because of letting Peeta and Katniss live. The movie ends with Katniss and Peeta returning to District 12, hand in hand, together.I liked the movie The Hunger Games. It was closer to the book than I expected. The Hunger Games in my opinion would be a hard movie to produce: its got complicated fighting scenes and difficult locations to shoot on. If someone was to take the difficulty on of producing/directing the movie they would have to be rich or have every scene shot on a green screen. Also this movie would be hard to capture because a lot of the book is Katniss thinking and pondering thoughts about Prim, Gale, Peeta and just staying alive in the arena and in life. Since she has taken care of her family ever since her father died in a mine accident. The movie remain pretty close to the book and now all of those Hunger Games fans are probably looking forward to Catching Fire, which is supposed to come into theatres in November, 2013. Great Job Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson.
