V.R Headsets; Are They the Future?

New technology is being always being created and becoming popular with the public. Virtual Reality (V.R) headsets have become very popular recently. These headsets can display a 3D image that can make you feel like you are in a virtual place.

One of the most popular and recognized V.R headsets is the Oculus Rift. You can hook it up to a computer and it can play certain games made by developers for it. It is intended for game developers and not just for the public.

Many YouTubers, including Pewdiepie, use these in some of their gaming videos for entertainment purposes and testing. Devices are also being made as add-ons for the Oculus, like a motion tracker that can literally put your hands into the game.

Some companies have now caught on to the Oculus and have been making their own V.R. headsets. Sony has been working on one for the Playstation 4 named Project Morpheus, and Microsoft is working on Windows Holographic for Windows 10. Google Glass is also a V.R device, that is a different kind. Instead of a large headset, it is a pair of glasses. There is a small screen in the top right corner that can display videos, calls, texts, Google Maps, and more.

Right now, you can get the Oculus Rift Development Kit 2 for $350 but it is intended for developers. The release date for the 3rd and final version is not yet revealed, but it is coming out later this year.

It is incredible how much technology has evolved. Not so long ago, the first Macintosh was released, and now we have smartphones and even V.R headsets. Today, technology plays an even larger role in our everyday lives, we use our phones and computers for communication, directions and even to order pizza. Technology is always evolving and is becoming a bigger part of our identity, and the Oculus Rift is the next step towards the future.
