Bernie Sanders and Socialism in America

With the 2016 election coming in a few months, there are some independent party candidates getting attention, mostly due to the failing support in the most popular conservative and liberal candidates.

One of the candidates getting the most attention (even though he came out and said he will be running for the Democratic nomination) is Senator Bernie Sanders from Vermont, who has become a big success on social media sites on the internet, particularly, Reddit.

One of the things that has given Sanders a large amount of publicity is his campaign, in the words of his competitors, “to turn America into Scandinavia.”

As previously stated, some believe his beliefs to be radical. He believes in free health care (similiar to Canada), as well as free college tuition. On his website, he says, “I have decided to be a candidate for the Democratic nomination for President. But let’s be clear. This campaign is not about Bernie Sanders. It’s about a grassroots movement of Americans standing up and saying: ‘Enough is enough. This country and our government belong to all of us, not just a handful of billionaires.'”

Despite the wide publicity he has been getting, he still can’t hope to win. But he can definitely bring attention to the issues facing Americans and the “Grassroots movement.”
