After the exit of our amazing ex-principal Ken Aldridge in 2014, and our temporary (but great) interim principal Dorothy Cary in 2014-2015, the Middle School is turning a new page—and welcoming a new division head, Sean Hamer.
Hamer has earned a degree in Education Leadership at Columbia University, a M.Ed. in Science and Mathematics Education at Lesley University, a Bachelors Degree in Human Services and a Minor in Chemistry at UMass, and Chemical Engineering at Northeastern.
In teaching, Hamer comes from a job as the Head of Middle School at Friends Academy in Dartmouth, MA. Hamer directed 110 middle schoolers in their growth. He has also instructed math and science courses and been a dean of faculty at Summerbridge in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Rounding out Hamer’s impressive resume is a course in Middle School Identity Development in East Providence, Rhode Island.
According to our new principal, education is “a process that empowers individuals with the resources to design a life of promise and options.” Things are looking good for this progressive, aware new principal who has his head in the future; he is initiating a school-wide adoption of Google Apps for Education.
If Mr. Hamer is reading this—we can’t wait for you to be our new principal!
