2016 Election

Recently, there has been a lot of change within the republican party. Trump is now the only nominee left for the republicans, while the democrats still have two candidates, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

On Tuesday, May 2nd, Ted Cruz dropped out of the race after a horrific loss to Trump. He had previously said that he would stay in the race until at least June 7 but after multiple losses, it may have been time for him to leave. When announcing to end his campaign Cruz stated that “We gave it everything we’ve got but the voters chose another path, so with a heavy heart but with boundless optimism for the long-term future of our nation, we are suspending our campaign.”

Shortly after John Kasich  announced that he would also be suspending his campaign. Kasich did not explain why he had dropped out of the race but after Kasich’s loss in Indiana, Trump did have a secure spot for the nomination. Kasich said “And as I suspend my campaign today, I have renewed faith, deeper faith, that the Lord will show me the way forward, and fulfill the purpose of my life.”

Now as Donald Trump, becomes the final candidate from the republican party, we are all further awaiting who will be the nominee for the democrats and how the election will go in November.
