2016 has been a very crazy year. Some might even say it has just become a giant meme. With all of the events and controversies, it’s time to take a look at the top five controversies of 2016.
5. No Man’s Sky
No Man’s Sky was a game developed and published by Hello Games for Microsoft Windows and Playstation 4. The game was an adventure game where players had the ability to travel through a galaxy of 18,000,000,000,000,000 (eighteen quintillion) planets. As exiting as it sounds, it failed due to many problems. The gameplay got reviews saying that it was repetitive. Some of the features that were marketed weren’t included like offline multiplayer. Hello Games has said that they would fix the issues later, but until then, No Mans Sky will remain as an over hyped game that failed at launch.
4. Pokemon Go
For many people who grew up on the 90’s, Pokemon in the real world is something that fans have wanted from the beginning. That dream was given to them when Pokemon Go was released. Pokemon Go was a mobile game that used GPS signals to make it look like Pokemon would appear in your location. It became addictive to fans and newcomers to the franchise, but died off later, due to its repetitive gameplay, as well as the fact that the feature to track nearby Pokemon was taken away. The game also resulted in multiple deaths, including two people not looking where they were going and walking off a cliff.
3. Killer Clowns
While there have been many murderous psychopaths in the past, the killer clowns are probably the most bizarre. These grown men dressed as clowns threaten kids through Facebook, lure kids into the woods were they molest and/or kill them, or just appear out of no where. These threats even caused lockdowns in two Alabama high schools due to clown sightings. While the threat has currently died down, you all should be on the lookout just in case a clown tries to kill you.
Harambe was a gorilla who suffered a tragic fate, and then becoming an internet meme after the tragedy. It was at the Cincinnati Zoo, where a three year old kid somehow climbed into Harambe’s cage. Harambe was dragging the kid around, which told the zoo keepers that Harambe was probably going to kill the kid. One of the zoo officials had to take out a shotgun and shoot Harambe. This event lead to many controversies to the point were Harambe was no longer just a gorilla, but a legend all over the internet.
1. The Election
This has been one of, if not THE most crazy elections America has ever had. The candidates were Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. These candidates both had different ideas, especially Trump. He had plans to build a wall on the Mexico-US border. Each of them did things that made them lose followers such as Hillary deleting over 3000 emails and Trump sexually violating several women. In the end, Trump won the election. While many people are upset about this, hopefully Trump will do a decent job as our president.
