In the 2016 elections, future president Donald Trump said that when he became president he would have a strong and strict southern border. One of his main campaign promises was that he would build a wall and Mexico was going to pay for it. Or to be more specific, write a check to the US. However, we have gone through the longest partial government shutdown in the history of the United States of America to get the wall. Trump has even declared the immigration crisis a national emergency. Some people are supporting Trump on this, while some are wondering, what else can we do about this situation.

In August of 2016 Colin Kaepernick did something that surprised America. He stood up by sitting down. A preseason football game, a song, a flag, a bench, and a man who sat down.
The first time Kaepernick protested (what he is now so infamous for doing), there was an uproar. People in the crowd were calling him a “coward,” “someone who should be banned,” “not a true American,” but then Kaepernick explained why he knelt: to show more respect to the flag.
